Adolescent Puppy Class
8 weeks - 15 weeks old
Puppy Kindergarten is a 7-week group training class for young puppies (who will be 8-15 weeks of age at the start of class) using progressive dog training that addresses common puppy challenges such as potty training, biting, polite greetings; as well as teaching basic obedience skills and socialization exercises. We know that puppy brains develop quickly. From the time your pup comes home until 18 weeks of age is critical for development into a well-adjusted adult dog. In this class, you will learn how to raise a polite, confident and happy pet dog.
7-week Class - $195
Sundays at 10:30am starting April 12th
4 months - 8 months
Adolescent Puppy Class is a 6-week beginner class for pups who will be 4 months to 8 months of age at the start of class. This class addresses common tween puppy challenges such as mouthing, polite greetings, counter surfing, and impulse control; as well as teaching basic obedience skills and building confidence through environmental socialization exercises. Through this class, you will build a stronger relationship with your teenage puppy.
6-week Class - $180

Intermediate Puppy Class
Impulse Control Class
For Graduates of Our Puppy Kindergarten
or Adolescent Puppy Class
Intermediate & Advanced Classes are 6-week classes for graduates of Puppy Kindergarten & Adolescent Puppy Class. In this class, we will work on greater impulse control; teaching new skills such as sitting at your side, heel and place (go to bed); as well as continuing to work on confidence building, politeness and play with other pups.
It is important to remember that you have a small window of time to greatly impact your pup’s confidence later in life. (Confidence ultimately equates to absence of fear or aggression.) As your pup ages, the potential impact of classes decreases. Having attended a well-run Puppy Kindergarten class has already made the greatest impact on your pup of any training class. The next most important class to continue this “buffering effect” is Intermediate Puppy.
6-week Class: $165

For Graduates of Our Intermediate Puppy Class
Impulse Control Class is a 6-week obedience class. This class is a good stepping stone to the Advanced class. We will work on teaching your pup to defer to you, resist temptations, relax and be patient. Some of the skills we will hone in on are leave it, wait, come when called, loose leash walking, settling and stays. Our goal is for your pup to understand that you are the gate keeper to good things and that working for you is always the best choice.
6-week Class: $165

Advanced Puppy Class
For Graduates of Our Intermediate Puppy Class or Impulse Control Class
Advanced Puppy Class is a 4-week obedience class. In this class, we are working to fine tune your pup's obedience skills in the face of greater distractions. Pups attending this class should be reliably walking on a loose leash in classes and complete distance and duration stays in classes. Together we will work to proof these skills and teach new skills for taking your pup out into the world such as, heel, direction changes, settle by chair, settle under table, recall away from greater distractions, passing close by other dogs.
4-week Class: $110

Meet Your Trainer:
With Over 10 Years Experience
Training Dogs & Their People
My career started in pet dog training under the mentorship of one of Rochester's most talented trainers, Pat Bonino. In 2009, I was certified through Petco's DTIP program. I have continued my formal education through workshops and seminars with some of the best trainers in the world, including Dr. Sophia Yin, Dr. Ian Dunbar, Dr. Marty Becker, Suzanne Clothier, to name a few. From 2014 to 2016, I lived and worked in Maryland preparing future guide dog puppies for their careers. Although I have helped many families with behavior modification services for fear, anxiety and aggression, my passion is in training puppies and their people; getting their relationship started off right!
Why Choose Bradford Dog Training?
It is important to note that not all dog training programs are created equal. Surprisingly, dog training in most states, including New York, is unregulated and unlicensed. Bradford Dog Training uses the standards set forth by the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior as our guideline for humane, scientifically-sound methodology. We promote the use of training techniques and equipment that are considered the least invasive and minimally aversive for training your dog. We believe that your dog will learn best through clear and consistent positive reinforcement based training; creating a relationship that is based in trust and that brings great joy to your family and your dog. Let's get started!
